Cancellation, Optional Trip Insurance

Cancellation Policy & Optional Trip Insurance For Eco Tours

(Does Not Apply to Private Charters)

We strive to make your booking experience as flexible and accommodating as possible. Understanding that plans can change, we offer a generous cancellation policy and optional trip insurance for when flexibility is paramount.

Cancellation Policy:

Free Cancellation up to 6 Days: You can cancel or reschedule your trip at no charge up to 6 days (144 hours) prior to the departure time.
Within 6 Days: We cannot allow cancellations or rescheduling within 6 days of your trip. This policy applies regardless of when the booking was made.

Optional Trip Insurance:

Added Flexibility: For added peace of mind, we offer optional cancellation insurance that can be added to your booking during purchase. This insurance allows you to cancel or reschedule your trip for any reason, right up to the moment of departure.
Rescheduling: If you choose to reschedule, this will be subject to availability, ensuring we can accommodate your new preferred time without impacting other guests.

We recommend considering our cancellation insurance to cover unexpected changes such as illness or other unforeseen events. This option provides you with flexibility and ensures that you can enjoy your experience with us without worry.

Age & Physical Fitness Guidelines

While our tours are designed to be inclusive, accommodating guests of all ages, the specific activities featured, such as snorkeling or kayaking, may vary in accessibility and physical demands.

Please note that entering the kayaks, or ocean for snorkeling require a degree of mobility to manage entry and exit.

Pets

Pets Policy

While we are dog lovers and understand the joy pets bring to families, we must prioritize the comfort and safety of all our guests as well as the preservation of our boats. Therefore, pets are not allowed on our regular eco tours due to the potential for increased wear and tear and because not all guests may be comfortable around animals.

Private Charters: For those who wish to bring their family pet on an adventure, we offer the option on private charters. You can include your pet for an additional fee of $75, ensuring that everyone in the family gets to enjoy the experience together.

Thank you for understanding our need to balance the interests of all our guests and the maintenance of our vessels.

BYOB & Alcohol Policy

BYOB Alcohol Guidelines:

Beer and Wine Welcome: Guests are welcome to bring beer or wine aboard for consumption after the tours activities. For safety and compliance with Coast Guard regulations, please present your beverages to the crew during boarding. Our crew will serve you to ensure both passenger safety and compliance with federal laws.
Glass and Hard Liquor: For the safety of all on board, we ask that you avoid bringing glass beer bottles. We also recommend avoiding hard liquor, as it can be challenging to monitor effects, especially in combination with heat and physical activity.
Consumption Monitoring: The crew reserves the right to restrict alcohol consumption to maintain a safe and family-friendly environment.

Smoking Policy:

No Smoking or Vaping: To ensure the health and comfort of all our passengers, smoking cigarettes, cigars, or vaping is not permitted during the tour.
Federal Regulations on Marijuana: Please note that despite state laws, as a federally regulated vessel, we must adhere to federal laws that prohibit the use of marijuana in any form aboard.

Punctuality, Parking & Traffic

Punctuality

To ensure timely departures and respect for all our guests, please arrive at the boat and be ready to board 20 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. Regrettably, we cannot delay departure for guests who arrive late and are unable to offer refunds or reschedule missed trips unless trip insurance was purchased.

Parking

Parking availability varies significantly depending on the time of year and time of day. During peak periods, such as holidays, finding parking can be particularly challenging. To avoid stress and ensure a relaxed start to your adventure, we recommend allowing ample time to park. The area around the dock is scenic and worth exploring, so arriving early offers the added bonus of potentially spotting fish or manatees!

Traffic

Traffic in town is generally manageable, but if you’re traveling from Miami, be aware that delays are possible, especially if there’s an accident on US1. To mitigate potential delays, we highly recommend considering our optional trip insurance, which allows for last-minute changes to your plans without penalty, please review trip insurance, reschedules are based on availability.

At Honest Eco, we are committed to delivering exceptional eco-tour experiences. If you join one of our tours and feel that the experience did not meet your expectations in terms of crew performance, we offer a remedy to ensure your satisfaction.

Guarantee Details:

Eligibility: This guarantee applies only if you have participated in the entire tour. Please understand that we cannot extend this guarantee to guests who miss the boat.
Compensation: If your experience falls short, you can submit your request here, we will issue gift cards valid for a future tour. These gift cards are valid for five years, giving you plenty of time to plan your return visit.
Exclusions: Please note that this guarantee does not apply to private charters.

Within minutes of setting sail we were with a dolphin… gentle and kind energy exactly like the honest eco crew! Always welcoming … whenever I visit key west I never miss an opportunity to be on one of their boats! Sunset sails and snorkel dolphin watching are my go to’s but they now have added a sandbar one too and have always offered private charters. Highly recommend … today was perfect start to finish… and while it’s difficult to top the dolphins I did… a giant loggerhead turtle cruised alongside me while I was snorkeling… talk about amazing! Don’t miss a chance to enjoy an honest eco tour when you visit Key West! Honest Eco’s Cowfish was moored right behind Waterfront Brewery for easy access from Old Town. Victor our captain, skillfully guided us to a beautiful sandbar far away from the large tour boats. I usually get excited about these kinds of tours, hoping they’ll live up to the hype. Unfortunately, they almost always end up being a disappointment, minimal effort, rushed experiences, and another overpriced tourist trap that leaves me feeling like a sucker. What a surprise, Not Honest Eco, they actually lives up to its name! They did an incredible job from start to finish. Their star guide, Charlie, has an amazing knowledge of marine life and a genuine passion for sharing it. He made the vast, mysterious ocean feel like a safe, intimate, private adventure. Throughout the tour, he let us hold and examine fascinating sea creatures while explaining their behaviors, habitats, and unique characteristics in a way that was both engaging and easy to understand. This wasn’t just another sightseeing trip, it was an unforgettable hands-on experience. Easily one of the best tours I’ve been on in a very long time. Highly recommended!

 Verified  Key West at its best, ON THE WATER with my kind of people. Of all the charters and excursions we saw while out on the water, HonestEco was the quaintest by far. If you want standing room only and a party atmosphere, this is not your tour. But It’s exactly the experience we were looking for. We are glad we booked it. The kayaking was great, and the snorkeling at the reef was amazing. Had the weather been nicer the very next day, we would have booked to go again. Key west is best out on the water! Our hosts, Alexa and Claire, were amazing. We appreciated an all female crew (pure luck, by chance) and their knowledge. The snorkel gear was acceptable as well. What did we see? Birds (all of them), turtles, sharks, lobster, every single reef fish, and other excursion boats throwing pool noodles at people as they jumped in the water (yuck). Tips: Bring reef safe sunscreen please, and apply right after kayaking to give it time before snorkeling.

It was essentially a private charter with a guided snorkel experience, as we were two of thirteen people on the boat. Andrew and Charlie were awesome and specifically took us to the best spots compared to other boats. They have a marine biology background to point out every individual thing at the reef. Also went out of their way to make sure we could find dolphins and explain facts about them. We were able to find some on the way back from snorkeling. Would recommend this company to anyone!

This is our second trip with Honest Eco, and we’ll probably book another! This time we did the sunset snorkeling and sandbar excursion. We love the intimacy and education that comes with these trips — this is not an overcrowded booze cruise, though you’re welcome to bring adult beverages. Capt. Alexa and Heather were informative, engaging, and especially understanding with guests who were hesitant about snorkeling. Their patience and knowledge made the experience even better.  Verified  Great family experience with the experts What sets this experience apart is the great crew and insights they could offer both on board and in the water. Great to have a guided snorkelling pointing out the sights and detail explaining them. Great for our 3 kids (12, 9, 7) that could enjoy all snorkelling time or flex to return to boat easily enough whilst great to have the expert insights to the dolphins too - appreciated the little extra time we had on the boat to see them. Kudos to Charlie and Libby for our trip. Having previously done a small private charter from hotel for similar purpose last year I would favour and recommend the Honesteco trip. The squid boat and group perfectly sized whilst fruit and veg and all eqipment if needed all great. Would do this again or try a different trip with them for sure.

Victor was a delightful captain who worked to make the experience great.  Can't really speak to cost because we don't know how cheap the mass tours run. We were on the dolphin and snorkel trip with Charlie and Jessie and it was nothing short of AMAZING. They were both super accommodating, fun, and knowledgeable and we seriously had the best time. I think something I appreciated most was that there were only about 15 people on the boat compared to some of the other charters we saw which had a lot more. It was a very intimate and wonderful experience and I'm so happy we chose Honest Eco - you could really tell that they have great appreciation and love for the animals and environment.  Verified  HonestEco Snorkeling & Dolphin Cruise with Bryan & Capt. Lonnie My wife and I enjoyed every bit of our time out with the HonestEco team on the “Squid”. We had a small group enjoying the day and looking for dolphin. Without early luck we decided to snorkel. Bryan was our private guide as the others decided to stay on board. Bryan guided us through the sponge garden which was super cool and a unique experience for us as experience snorkelers. We observed a lobster and a nurse shark hiding amongst the sponges! Very cool! Back on board we were treated to some yummy snacks of fresh fruit and really good hummus! We continued to look for dolphins. Capt. Libbie and Bryan were working theirs contacts until we got the call. Dolphins! A small nursing pod! Bryan did an awesome job explaining what we we seeing including a new born baby (1-2 days old) in the pod! Both Bryan and I had our cameras out and were snapping away! What a treat! Bryan even captured our proposed name for the new born baby - Pebbles after our dog! Checking with Bryan to see if it was accepted! Would recommend touring with this team 100%! She took us to two snorkel spots and we saw lots of dolphins. Libby’s kindness with just the right amount of taking was perfect for our girls trip with two moms and two young teen daughters. We appreciated the fresh, healthy snacks and her knowledge of the area above and below water, including extensive knowledge of the sea life and marine ecosystem. It was a highlight of our five day trip. We accidentally left sunscreen on board and she went above and beyond by bringing it back to our hotel (which was not close to the marina!). Captain Andrew was amazing! He was very knowledgeable about the area. We were able to see dolphins on our way to the reef. It was my 9 year old’s first snorkeling experience and one she won’t forget thanks to Andrew. He was patient and kind in making sure her gear fit just right. Brian’s knowledge of the environment and stories were great. Yummy snacks and water were provided. We were also impressed with Alexa’s proactivity in helping some snorkelers from another charter who were struggling in the water. We booked a snorkel trip with another group and they neglected to tell us our excursion had been canceled. After 24 hours of jumping through hoops to get a refund we fortunately stopped by Honest Eco and we were greeted by Brian pulling in from a charter. He should have been tired and ready for a break but instead he spent time with us and made us feel so comfortable that we booked a snorkel trip with him. Awesome decision. Captain Chase was awesome! He had a laid-back vibe and adjusted to our family and our personalities very quickly. I have snorkeled a lot on trips and his instruction was the BEST I’ve ever had, making it my most enjoyable snorkeling experience with no swallowing of ocean water (gross) or foggy mask.  Verified  A Perfect Day! Four of us went out on a private dolphin watch and snorkeling excursion. It was a little windy so we didn't snorkel, but we had an incredible 4 hours on the water. We saw probably 25 dolphins -- including some babies -- and so enjoyed watching them frolic. The weather warmed up and Dan, our captain, was incredibly knowledgeable about the eco-systems, dolphins, birds, creation of the man made islands, role of mangroves in preserving Key West -- it was just a perfect day. Food is always fabulous (fresh fruit, veggies, hummus). I have gone out with Honest Eco a dozen or so times, and this one was simply perfect. Cannot recommend them enough!

Honest Eco was hands down the best choice I could’ve made. For the price, the experience was unbelievable. The snorkeling spots were beautiful and not crowded at all, and the sunset was absolutely perfect. The crew was super friendly and full of great information about the area, the wildlife we saw, and the history — you could tell they really love what they do. Everything felt easy, relaxed, and fun from start to finish, especially loved the tasty local snacks too. This is the only sunset, snorkel, or dolphin charter I’ll ever book here.  Verified  Best private snorkeling sand bar tour experience ever first class. Amazing top notch trip. Everything was first class from start to finish. Captain Andrew was a great host. Boat was clean and fun ride. Perfect day on the water with family. Snorkeling and sand bar tour private was the way to go. Highly recommend. Class act. Fresh fruit and drinks half way thru trip to refresh from all the swimming. If you want a private tour that is top notch this is the company to rent it from.  Verified  So much worth the extra $ Because of cost we originally scheduled a trip with an other charter, but because of a scheduling conflict we spent a little extra and went with this outfit. We are so happy we ended up here. Especially after seeing the boat we were originally scheduled with. We only had a total of 8 guests on our catamaran plus 2 fantastic captains (Dan and Dale). We had ample room to move around the vessel and enjoy the excursion compared to what we observed on the other excursions we passed. The guests on the less costly excursions looked like they had little to no room to move around. Captain Dan and Captain Dale were very knowledgeable, pleasant, personable, responsible. And according to my girlfriend, had nice teeth. Both Dan and Dale also referred to everyone on the vessel by name. We felt they actually enjoyed meeting us and making sure we had a fantastic experience. We highly recommend choosing this excursion. Thank you Captain Dale and Captain Dan!

 Verified  A great dolphin watching and snorkeling trip. We were lucky to see dolphins early in our tour and again up close before the end of the trip. Captain Wade and first mate Brian were very friendly and knowledgeable. This was our second snorkeling excursion of our trip. The first was with Danger charters. The trip with danger charters was a fun experience, but the snorkeling experience was much better with Honest Eco Tours. Maybe it was having a marine biologist on board (Brian) but we went to a location where we had more visibility and saw a great deal more than we did with Danger Charters. Had we skipped the Honest Eco Tours trip, we would have left Key West thinking the snorkeling here was a scam. I wholeheartedly recommend both companies, but if you must choose between the two companies, Honest Eco Tours should get your business. (But bring your own booze for the honest eco tours trip, as they don’t supply alcohol).

 Verified  Amazing private charter! My sister and I surprised our Mom with a trip to the Fl. Keys for her 60th. The highlight of this trip was a boat tour with Honest Eco! Our Captain Andrew made this an unforgettable experience! He found the perfect sandbar for us and we had it all to ourselves - there he served freshly cut fruit and snacking on this while enjoying this perfect scenery was just unbelievable! Also while other boats had difficulties finding dolphins all day he not only found dolphins for us to watch and take pictures of, the dolphins also stayed and played around our boat!Furthermore Andrew is very knowledgeable about the wildlife and area in general and provided us with all the answers to our questions!The boat was very comfortable and stable during the tour!This was such an amazing experience and we recommend Honest Eco and especially Andrew strongly for anyone who wants a very special experience they‘ll never forget!

 Verified  This Is The One There are so many options, it’s hard to choose which trip to invest your time and money in while in Key West. This is the one you want if you are looking for an individualized experience without a solo charter price. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and dedicated to ensuring each person received a quality and fun experience. Excellent snorkeling with puffer fish, sting rays, barracuda, and even a hammerhead shark!  Verified  Dolphin watch tour was incredible! We took the dolphin watch tour on the boat Squid this week. What an incredible experience. The crew was so knowledgeable and I learned so much about dolphins and the coral reef. We got to snorkel and saw beautiful fish including tarpon and grouper. The snacks were delicious and the day was so memorable. Their boat was clean and comfortable, plenty or room for everyone to feel comfortable.  Verified  Best Private Charter Best private charter in Key West! We have done many of Honest Eco's Kayak snorkel tours over the years, but this time we wanted to do something more intimate and relaxing. Captain Katie was amazing! There was 4 of us on Cowfish which was perfect size for what we wanted. She took us out to the sandbar and enjoyed the amazingly beautiful sunset as we traveled back. Katie was not only a great captain she also was a great host! We had food catered for Date and Thyme Organic Cafe and Market. Our food spread was great!  Verified  Perfect Tranquility in Nature Honest Eco is the best company hands down in Key West. My wife and I choose them every time we go out on the water, and we are locals! Their dolphin watch and snorkel is so relaxing and informative, it's good for everyone. We have also been on a few sandbar and birdwatching private tours on their smaller boat, Ink, which is the perfect little catamaran for getting around in the back country we've found.  Verified  Amazing experience There were so many great things about this experience that it is difficult to choose where to start. I loved the small group experience (we were only six people). Sarah and Rachel were so knowledgeable and eager to share so many exciting pieces of information about the dolphins, the reefs, and the marine environment of Key West. The snorkeling experience was fantastic, as Rachel went into the water with us and directed our attention to the most interesting places and things to look at. We were incredibly fortunate to see a baby dolphin with its mom swimming so close to us and so many times. And the snacks were also delicious and healthy, with wonderful hummus and the tastiest plate of varied fruits! It isn't easy to get a similar experience unless you rent a charter boat with a marine biologist. It was most relaxing, instructive, and fun. Worth every penny.

 Verified  Best 4 hours spent in Key West My husband and I had a reservation on a Tuesday afternoon but due to low signups, it was canceled the morning of. (It happened to be Fantasy Fest this week, so most people prob preferred to party on land hah) We were reconfirmed for the next morning, and to our surprise, we were basically given a private charter for regular price! We had Captain Sara and Rachel aboard for our trip. They were a joy to hangout with for 4 hours; truly an amazing and educational time! We learned so much from the both of them - personally and professionally - and their excitement for the water, marine life, and education was so contagious. One of the reasons we chose this company was because of their electric boat SQUID. We had *perfect* weather and water conditions. Their electric boat is quieter and can access shallower waters through the sandbars. We saw a turtle, a shark, a squid, sting rays, jellyfish, many lobsters, a cute shrimp, fish, lots of beautiful corals and oceans of sea grass. Unfortunately the one thing we didn’t see was dolphins, but they are wild after all and we knew it just would be a bonus if we did catch a glimpse of them. Rachel had a GoPro and sent us a gallery of our underwater photos - a very generous gesture! We were provided snacks like fresh hummus from Date and Thyme and a beautiful spread of fruits, both prepared by Rachel. 100% recommend this company! I only wish we had more time to do a longer trip. Both Captain Sara and Rachel made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. The work that this company is doing is inspiring and I know without a doubt that the research and educational outreach they’re committed to will be impactful to the dolphins and overall marine biology.  Verified  Absolutely Fantastic Experience Our experience was absolutely amazing! First, the boat is actually very quiet thanks to the electric engine. Then, and most importantly, the staff was so knowledgeable and fun at the same time! They really explained what we were going to see, took the time to talk privately if we had questions about the marine life we saw. We took all the time we wanted to snorkel, and never feel pressured like it happens in so many other tours that stuff as many people as they can in a boat. On this one, we have space to sit and move around without having to fight for a spot to see the dolphins. Last but not least, their claim to be an eco-friendly tour is not just a marketing trick. They do pay attention not to use disposable plastic bottles, they explain how not to disturb the wildlife when we snorkel, and we even got tips at how to grow sustainable plants and fruits in Florida.  Verified  Perfect Day on the Water - Times 2!!! Did a private tour with Captain Jesse and Jaclyn...were on dolphins within 10mins and stayed on them for close to an hour. The went to the Sanctuary to do some snorkeling. Enjoyed this so much we booked a second trip with them. This time, Captain Jesse and Jaclyn took us out to Sand Key on the reef. Had a dolphin sighting at the reef while snorkeling. Reef fish were amazing with several cuda and a couple reef sharks as well as the many colorful fish!!! It is not the fault of the company for this as it is winter, and they did a great job making the best of it. I recommend this charter to anyone who is willing to withstand both the cold of Key winter as well as Key summer when it comes along next year. And please by all means, don’t fear the ocean. The boat is very nice and comfy and quiet since it is electric. The Captain was fun to talk to and was explaining lots of different things about the area. The marine biologist was very friendly and eager to answer any questions we had. We found the dolphins quickly and spent a lot of time watching them and being taught about their behavior. The snorkeling part was handled well, but just not the most exciting location for snorkeling. But I booked this to see dolphins, so that was fine. Then there was the food part....they provided fresh ice water in individual ss bottles which was appreciated in the heat. Then the marine biologist prepared some fresh fruit and veggies and hummus and served individual plates to each group. (Her plating was beautifully done too.) It was a very yummy and refreshing and a really nice addition to the experience. Then the other passengers were all so friendly, it really felt like an afternoon with friends on a private boat with good food. We had a private charter with Rachel today and it was wonderful! She was so knowledgeable about the ecology, marine life and local history. We had a wonderful time out on the water, snorkeling and kayaking. Since it was a private charter we were even able to bring our little dog.
