Snorkeling

“The best way to see a fish, is to become a fish.” -Jacques Cousteau

We built SQUID to access protected, calm and clear snorkeling spots so that our crew can point out the most wildlife as they guide you on your snorkel.

• Quality Cressi Snorkel Gear that works

• Patient Instruction and Assistance, especially great for Novice and Beginner Snorkelers

Guided Snorkeling

“Ours is truly a blue planet - Water covers most of the world’s surface. Here, we are outsiders” -David Attenborough Life of Fish

Slip off of our swim platform and into another world, where you’ll observe a wondrous diversity of life in the last habitat that we haven’t made our own. You’ll be captivated by the snappers, angelfish, eels, crabs, lobsters, sponges and corals amongst others, and your understanding of our world will deepen.

Your mate will accompany you, casting an experienced eye on the surroundings, there to help explain
and unmask a novel ocean setting.

Quality Gear

Quality snorkeling equipment is every bit as important as you’d imagine!

All of our masks have soft silicone skirts that conform to all shapes and sizes of faces and because we’re a small group trip we have the time to make sure you have your equipment on correctly before you jump in.

We have “shorty” Akona wetsuits for the winter months.

We rely mostly on Cressi masks for Adults and Juniors. For Kids we use an Akona Joey mask. We also stock a few assorted styles for those with unique needs!

Snorkel Instruction

Not only do we want our guests to enjoy snorkeling, We NEED our guests to enjoy snorkeling! So we teach you how to use all of your gear and provides tips and pointers for how to be successful while snorkeling.

Patient Instructions prepare you for exploring!

Location

Snorkeling Location

Our snorkeling spots change by the season and sometimes by the day.
Our experience has taught us that our guests have the best time when we
take them to a location offering the calmest and the clearest water for
the weather conditions. Sometimes this is a barrier reef or a gulfside
patch reef and other times a shallow water sponge garden; wherever we
decide to snorkel, our guests, both beginners and experienced, enjoy the
experience so much that they often stay in the water for up to an hour.

Reviews

My dad and I went on the morning dolphin watch and snorkel eco tour with Billy and Kelsey and we loved it so much that we literally booked another tour for that same afternoon while still on the boat. It was really important for us to choose a tour by a company that was environmentally conscious and respectful of the wildlife and Honest was exactly that. The boat, besides being beautiful and spacious enough for everyone to see the wildlife in the water, is electric. Also, there’s no single use plastics on the boat so we all got a reusable stainless steel water bottle that we could refill throughout the tour.

Billy and Kelsey were absolutely amazing and made us feel like we were part of the family. Before we searched for dolphins, Kelsey explained the plan for the day and then she told us all about the geologic history of the Keys which was really interesting. Then it was time to see the dolphins. We saw a bunch of them that kept swimming right by the boat while Billy told us fun facts about dolphin behavior.

The snorkelling was the best part of trip. The crew jumped in the water with us and helped us identify all the marine wildlife we were seeing. We spotted many tarpons bigger than us, barracudas, huge stingrays and a nurse shark swam right underneath us. By the end of the trip Kelsey shared all the pictures she took on her waterproof camera which I’m super thankful for since my own camera ran out of battery.

This was honestly the best experience of my life and it was amazing to do it with a crew that loves the ocean and shares the same ideals as we do. It was 100% the highlight of our trip and it’s an experience we will never ever forget!!! 😊

Captain Rob brought us to an amazing spot filled with a total of 15 dolphins. He shared his knowledge of dolphins with us, answering and questions we had. We then had the opportunity to snorkel at the sponge gardens. He came in the water with us and pointed out numerous creatures. Crabs, lobster, sting rays, tons of different species of fish and of course giant sponges bigger than truck tires.

Great Company and Crew!

We took a group of 10 on the Squid and it was a highlight of our week in Key West. We loved the philosophy behind the company and Sara and Bryan were excellent. They were knowledgeable, welcoming and very accommodating. We had a great day seeing dolphins, snorkeling and learning more about the local environment. Was also nice to see and hear how Honest Eco’s approach is rubbing off on other companies offering excursions in the area.
